Professional Biography
People are inherently interesting and it is very rewarding when a client puts their faith in you.
How do you describe what you do?
As an investment manager, my job is to manage personalised investment strategies that help my clients achieve their goals. I work closely with financial planners and tax advisors to ensure my clients get the necessary holistic financial support.
What's next for you professionally?
More of the same. It looks likely that geo-politics and investment markets will remain characterised by volatility & uncertainty. I look forward to helping my clients successfully navigate their finances in an increasingly polarised world.
How did you start off in your career?
After leaving the University of Edinburgh, I joined the Smith & Williamson graduate scheme in September 2014. The structure of the graduate scheme was invaluable, and over a decade later I still work with the same team and many of the same clients.
What's your area of expertise?
My client base is hugely varied but if I had to pick out a few specialisms I would point to - clients with agricultural and rural business interests, multi-generational complex families, and Corporation of Lloyds mandates.
What's your favourite thing about your role?
My role centres on delivering a highly personalised investment service. Much of my time is spent engaging with existing and prospective clients. People are inherently interesting and it is very rewarding when a client puts their faith in you.
